Trains to Portchester

Portchester train station is situated on the West Coastway Line between Brighton and Southampton. The station serves the Fareham suburb of Portchester at the northern end of Portsmouth Harbour. South Western Railway provides a typical off-peak service of three trains per hour to London Waterloo and two trains per hour each to Portsmouth & Southsea and Southampton Central. Southern also run an hourly service between Southampton Central and London Victoria that stops at this station. The fastest journey time to London Waterloo is 1 hour 35 minutes.  

Portchester itself is home to a medieval castle. Built in the 11th century, it assumes a commanding position over the strategically important Portsmouth Harbour. The Earl of Cambridge was famously apprehended at the castle, when his plot to assassinate Henry V was discovered.  

Portchester train station has two platforms. Access to platform 2 is via a steep ramp and assistance may be required. There is no ramp free access to platform 1. Connection between the platforms is via a footbridge with stairs. Local bus services can be found on the nearby Station Road.
