Trains to Pontyclun

Pontyclun train station is situated on the South Wales Main Line between Cardiff and Swansea, 11 miles to the west of Cardiff Central. A station has been at this location since 1850 although it was originally called Llantrisant. Trains are operated from this station by Arriva Trains Wales who offer a typical off peak service of one trains per hour. The fastest journey times to Cardiff Central and Swansea are 14 minutes and 52 minutes respectively.  

The station serves the village of Pontyclun. The village name translates as ‘bridge over the River Clun’; the River Clun being the main tributary to the River Ely which flows just a few hundred metres to the west of the station. Pontyclun train station has two platforms, both with step free access. They are connected by a footbridge and steps or via the Cowbridge Road over-bridge. Local bus service connections can be found on Cowbridge Road and Llantrisant Road. There is no ticket office at this station.
