A station has been at this location since 1850 although it was originally called Llantrisant. The station serves the village of Pontyclun. Pontyclun train station has two platforms, both with step free access. They are connected by a footbridge and steps or via the Cowbridge Road over-bridge. Local bus service connections can be found on Cowbridge Road and Llantrisant Road. There is no ticket office at this station.
