Penshurst train station is located in Chiddingstone Causeway, two miles outside the village which shares its name and near the northern edge of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was opened in 1842 and sits very close to the site of the former Penshurst Airfield, which opened in 1916 and closed permanently in 1946. Trains from Penshurst are operated by Southern and run on the Redhill to Tonbridge Line. The usual weekday service is one train an hour in each direction; direct services to Tonbridge take just 8 minutes and the fastest journey time to Redhill is 24 minutes.
Penshurst train station has two platforms with a footbridge over the line. There is separate step-free access to each side from the surrounding roads. The platforms are basic, with seats and shelters and a ticket machine for the collection of purchase of tickets. The original station buildings have been destroyed.
