Trains to Peartree

Peartree train station is one of three which serve Derby city. It is located slightly south-east of the Peartree area and also serves the residents of Normanton and Osmaston. Services from this station are very limited: two or three trains from Peartree station depart in each direction on weekdays and Saturdays and none at all on Sundays. Direct trains to Crewe take 1 hour and 16 minutes and the journey time to Derby is just 5 minutes.     

Peartree train station, previously called Pear Tree and Normanton, opened in 1839 as part of the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway. Low passenger numbers led to its closure in 1968, but it was re-opened again in 1976 as part of a branch line to the Rolls Royce factory in Sinfin. Although the branch line has now closed, Peartree itself remains open. 

The station itself is basic. It is unstaffed, so tickets need to be purchased in advance or from the conductor on the train. There are two platforms, both with ramp access from the nearby Osmaston Park Road, and a couple of small wooden benches for passengers.
