Patterton train station is located in Patterton and serves the surrounding areas of Newton Mearns, Jennylind and Deaconsbank. Originally opened in 1903, the station today is managed by Abellio ScotRail. Wartime economy meant that it closed between 1917 and 1919. When it reopened it was known as Patterton for Darnley Rifle Range before British Rail changed the name back to Patterton sometime later.
Patterton train station has two platforms joined by a footbridge which goes over the line. Both platforms also have separate step-free access from the surrounding roads. There are shelters and seats on both sides and a ticket machine on platform 1 for the purchase or collection of tickets.
