Known for its intricate Italianate architecture and historical background, Newark Castle train station serves the town of Newark, Nottinghamshire, with East Midlands Railway services operating on the Nottingham to Lincoln Line. Trains from Newark Castle run hourly towards Lincoln eastbound from platform 2 and half-hourly towards Nottingham westbound from platform 1, with alternate Nottingham trains continuing to Leicester and Matlock via Derby. On Sundays, services continue at an hourly rate in both directions after mid-morning.

A historic structure constructed in 1846, Newark Castle station currently possesses Grade II listing. Both platforms at the station possess basic waiting areas with seating for passenger comfort, bicycle storage and modern help points. Train-running information is provided on timetable poster boards. Toilet facilities are available for passenger use, and refreshments may be purchased from the café located on the Nottingham-bound platform. Both platforms have step-free access from the station car parks and Great North Road.
