Trains to Nairn

Serving the town of Nairn, Nairn Railway Station sees regular ScotRail trains along the Aberdeen to Inverness Line. Trains operate regularly but infrequently, with two-hourly trains from Nairn being typical of off-peak hours. The initial morning eastbound trains run to Dundee and Edinburgh Waverly, returning the opposite direction in the late evening. In peak hours, certain trains run to and from Elgin only, including a through service from Kyle of Lochalsh. On Sundays, five trains run between Aberdeen and Inverness.  

Despite the station’s relatively infrequent service, facilities at Nairn are good. Passengers wishing to travel from Nairn may use the cycle storage facilities or station car park ahead of travel; within the concourse, a staffed ticket office and self-service ticketing machines offer the full range of fares. Train running information is provided via digital display screens and automated announcements. Refreshments are available at the station café, and there are toilet facilities in the concourse on platform 1. Both platforms have waiting shelters with bench seating. There is step-free access to both platforms.
