Lying snugly on the Black Isle in the Highlands, Muir of Ord Railway Station serves the village of Muir of Ord with regular ScotRail trains operating on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line and Far North Line. Trains from Muir of Ord run four times daily on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line, running between Kyle of Lochalsh in the west and Inverness in the east (with a daily extension to Elgin). On the Far North Line, twelve trains a day run from Inverness to Muir of Ord, four of which continue to Thurso and Wick, four to Kyle of Lochalsh, and four to Dingwall only. 

Muir of Ord Railway Station has a decently-sized station car park and room for ten cycles to be stored. As there are no ticketing provisions at this station, tickets must be purchased ahead of time or on board from a guard. Train running information is provided on digital departure screens. For passenger comfort, basic waiting shelters with bench seating are provided on both platforms. There is step-free access to both platforms.
