Long Buckby station is a little way south of the large Northamptonshire village that it serves, sitting in a landscape of open fields between Northampton and Rugby. The station's usual off-peak service is two trains per hour to Birmingham New Street via Rugby and Coventry, and two per hour in the opposite direction to London Euston via Northampton. It's on a loop line, so longer-distance intercity services on the West Coast Main Line don't stop here.
The village of Long Buckby itself is just over half a mile to the north, and is mainly residential, with a few local shops along its high street. The nearest large town is Daventry, about 4.5 miles west on the other side of the M1 - you can reach it on the 11 bus from outside the station, taking about 12 minutes. People also come to this area to visit nearby Althorp, the Spencer family's ancestral home and final resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales.
