A major terminus, Lincoln Central Railway Station serves the city of Lincoln with regular East Midlands and LNER trains for many destinations, including London, Leicester and Peterborough. Trains from Lincoln Central run to Newark North Gate and Leicester via Newark Castle and Nottingham on the Midland Line, to Sheffield via Retford and direct trains to Doncaster on the Doncaster-Lincoln Line, Peterborough via Sleaford on the Peterborough-Lincoln Line, and Grimsby Town via Market Rasen. During the week, there are also direct services to London St Pancras and London Kings Cross.

LNER trains run from London Kings Cross to Lincoln Central in 1h 55m, while EMR trains cover the routes from Doncaster to Lincoln Central in 1h 2m, Leicester to Lincoln Central in 1h 57m and Peterborough to Lincoln Central in 1h 15m. Finally, Northern trains serve the routes to and from Sheffield.
