Abellio ScotRail manages services and operations at Hillington East train station. Open since 1934 the station was given the name Hillington, in 1940 east was added due to the opening of Hillington West station. The station sits on the Inverclyde Line between Hillington West and Cardonald. Daily services are available from this station into the centre of Glasgow and the town of Gourock. From platform 1 there are daily services to Glasgow Central, and the city can be reached in just 10 minutes.  From Platform 2 there are two services that stop at Hillington East en route to Gourock, the journey time for this route is around 42 minutes.  

Platform 1 is accessible via Carnegie Street and Platform 2 via Chirnside Road. A ticket office is available from Monday through to Saturday for any passengers wishing to buy a ticket for travel at the station. Facilities available at Hillington East include shelters on both platforms, departure screens, and announcements.
