Hendon is a suburb in the northern London borough of Barnet, and its station lies on the Midland Main Line, right on the boundary between Zone 3 and Zone 4. It's a busy commuter station, with southbound Thameslink services reaching St Pancras in a little over 15 minutes, and passing through Farringdon, City Thameslink and Blackfriars. Northbound services head towards St. Albans City and Luton, also stopping at Luton Airport Parkway. In the evening, there are additional services to Brighton and Gatwick Airport.
The area around the station is mostly residential, with Hendon's shops and cafes clustered around the junction of Church Road and Parson Street, about a mile away to the northeast. For serious shopping, head south of the station, where you'll find Brent Cross, one of the busiest shopping centres in the UK. It's packed with big-name retailers, as well as a wide range of restaurants and coffee shops.
