When Heathrow Central train station opened in 1999, it was known as Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3, so quite clearly serving the world's third busiest airport. The station currently has two services running between the airport and London's Paddington Station. The Heathrow Express runs every fifteen minutes and is direct. Heathrow Connect is a stopping service, and therefore offers connections to the London Underground Central and District lines at Ealing Broadway. Heathrow Central is also the station for travellers to and from Terminal 4, which is linked by a shuttle service that is timed to coincide with the Heathrow Express. All standard-class travel between the terminals of Heathrow Airport is free of charge. Next door to the station is the Heathrow Central Bus Station, with connections to London and the rest of the UK via National Express.

As Britain’s busiest airport, many passengers travel by train to Heathrow Airport for domestic and international flights. This is much faster than taking the London Underground or bus from the centre of London.

Heathrow Central has two platforms, between which are waiting areas and information points. At one end, lifts and escalators lead up to the Terminal 1 concourse, and at the other to the concourse which links to the walkways to Terminals 2 and 3. There are ticket counters and machines on both concourses, and the connection to the London Underground station is via Terminal 1.
