Grove Park station serves both Grove Park and Downham, within Zone 4 in the London Borough of Lewisham. The station, opened in 1871, is made up of five platforms, with services to Bromley North from platform 1, Hastings from platform 2, London Cannon Street and Charing Cross from platform 4, and Sevenoaks and Orpington from platform 5. Grove Park is also served by several busy London Bus routes.
While there is evidence of pre-modern settlement at Grove Park, much of the development you see today was sparked by the station itself, which arrived in 1871. The surrounding area is largely residential, but the station is close to Chinbrook Meadows, a large green space through which the River Quaggy flows. The park is part of the Green Chain Walk, which links many of London's green spaces - here it continues south past the local cemetery, joining up with Elmstead Woods.
