Located on the border of Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire, Greenfield Railway Station serves the village of Greenfield with Northern train services on the Huddersfield Line. During typical off-peak hours, Monday through Saturday, Greenfield trains operate on an hourly basis between Manchester Victoria and Huddersfield with additional services running at peak times. On Sundays, service remains hourly. Select services extend eastbound to Leeds and westbound to Wigan Wallgate or Southport.
Falling close to the reservoirs of Dovestones and the Chew Valley in the Peak District, Greenfield Station has good facilities for passenger use. The station ticket office is staffed part-time, and there is a self-service ticket machine for use when the station is not staffed. Cycle storage is located on platform 1, and there are waiting shelters with bench seating present on both platforms. Accessible toilet facilities are provided. Platform 1 has step-free access, but platform 2 is accessed only via stairs and footbridge.
