Since the London and North Western Railway Company first opened it in 1891, Goostrey train station has been serving residents in the small village of Goostrey in Cheshire. The station offers passengers regular hourly train services running on the Crewe to Manchester Line, and these services are operated by Northern Rail. There is usually one service southbound towards Crewe and one northbound towards Manchester Piccadilly (via Stockport) every hour. There are also more infrequent services from Goostrey train station to Manchester which stop at Manchester airport, available during peak hours only. In 2008, Sunday services were added to the Goostrey station timetable. There are now trains running every two hours from Goostrey to Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe every Sunday.
There are no ticket offices or ticket machines available at Goostrey train station, and the station is unstaffed. Passengers wishing to travel from Goostrey will need to purchase their tickets in advance or on the train.
