Trains to Gillingham (Kent)

Trains to Gillingham bring visitors to an area steeped in literary, maritime and military history. Encircled by the River Medway, and closely linked with the towns of Chatham and Rochester, which also line the Medway's banks, Gillingham is part of a fascinating corner of Kent. Gillingham train station was opened in 1858 and given a £2.6m facelift in 2012, which included extensive improvements to access and facilities. London-bound trains go direct to London Victoria via Rochester, London Charing Cross via Gravesend and Dartford, and London St Pancras International via Ebbsfleet International. Less than 20 minutes away by bus from Gillingham station are the Royal Engineers Museum, the Historic Dockyard Chatham and Fort Amherst - Britain's largest Napoleonic fortress. A little further on is the Dickens World theme park, where visitors can immerse themselves in the Victorian settings of some of the writer's most famous novels. The University of Kent and University of Greenwich Medway campuses are also nearby.
