Rail first came to Enfield in the 1840s, establishing transport links that would transform the market town into the popular suburb it is today. The current Enfield Chase station opened in 1910, and is one of two stations in the centre of Enfield. It has regular daytime services to London Moorgate, and night-time services to London King's Cross. Other services include trains to Hertford North and Letchworth Garden City.
Enfield Chase station is to the west of the town centre, and close to the Chase Green Gardens and the New River. Travellers emerge from the station onto Windmill Hill with its row of shops, and from there it is an eight-minute walk to Church Street and the Palace Gardens shopping centre. The Town Park is south of the town centre and is the last remaining public part of Enfield Old Park, once an ancient game reserve.
