Elephant & Castle Railway Station is a National Rail station serving Newington and Walworth, London Borough of Southwark, with Thameslink and Southeastern services along the Thameslink route and the Chatham Main Line. Weekday off-peak service from Elephant & Castle sees two trains per hour to West Hampstead Thameslink via London Blackfriars, to St Alban's via London Blackfriars, to Luton via Blackfriars, to Sevenoaks via Catford, to Sutton via Mitcham Junction, and to Sutton via Wimbledon respectively for a total of twelve trains an hour. The out-of-station interchange with Elephant & Castle Underground Station is possible here.

As Elephant & Castle Railway Station is located in Travelcard Zones 1 and 2, Oyster cards may be used at this station. Elephant & Castle Railway Station facilities include self-service ticket machines with Oyster top-up capabilities, waiting for shelters with bench seating, refreshment facilities, payphones, post boxes, public wifi, toilets, and baby changing facilities. Access to the station platforms is via staircases only, as there are no lifts or ramps at this station.

Straddling zones 1 and 2 in the London Borough of Southwark, Elephant & Castle Underground Station sees frequent Northern and Bakerloo line trains.

As Elephant & Castle Tube Station is the southern terminus of the Bakerloo line and sees six trains per hour to Harrow & Wealdstone, three trains per hour to Stonebridge Park, and five trains per hour to Queen’s Park. On the Northern Line (Bank and City branches), off-peak service sees ten Northern Line trains per hour northbound to High Barnet and Edgware each, and twenty trains per hour southbound to Morden. The out-of-station interchange with Elephant & Castle National Rail Station is possible. 

Elephant & Castle Tube Station has a staffed ticket office but has otherwise minimal facilities. The station is also well served by the following bus routes 12, 35, 53, 148, 176, 188, 344, and 453 provide 24-hour service.
