A unique bi-level station, Dudley Port Railway Station serves the West Midlands town of Tipton with regular service along the Stour Valley Line. During the week, daytime trains from Dudley Port run in both directions every half hour to Wolverhampton and Walsall via Birmingham New Street. This service becomes hourly between Birmingham and Wolverhampton only on Sundays. Additionally, three trains from Dudley Port operate as peak services. These include a morning peak service from Stafford to New Street, an evening peak service from New Street to Shrewsbury, and a final service from New Street to Crewe.
Dudley Port Station remains active on the upper-level today, whilst the remnants of the disused lower level along the South Staffordshire Line lie below. Plans to reopen the lower level as a tram line are currently in the works. As it stands, Dudley Port’s island platform includes a waiting room with bench seating, departure and arrival boards, and automated announcements with train running information. Staff assistance is available at the manned ticket office.
