Trains to Downham Market travel on the aptly named Fen Line between Cambridge and King's Lynn, and a Fen landscape is exactly what travellers enjoy from the train: big skies, flat farmland and the meandering River Great Ouse. The station also offers regular services to London Liverpool Street and King's Cross, and its Victorian station building houses a pub for thirsty arrivals, or travellers waiting for their train.
Downham Market station is on the western edge of town between the town centre and the River Great Ouse relief channel. The main collection of shops, restaurants and other services is on High Street, a ten-minute walk away along Railway Road. One of the landmarks of the town is the ornate clock tower that stands on the corner of High Street and Bridge Street, close to where the market is held each Friday and Saturday.
