Trains to Derby Road (Ipswich)

Derby Road railway station lies in Ipswich’s district of Rose Hill just a mile east of the city centre along the Felixstowe Branch Line. The station was opened in the late-19^th century by the Felixstowe Railway & Pier Company and was often used as the interchange point for trams heading towards the seaside and by 1891 another station platform had been constructed. Today, the original red-brick station buildings still survive, but they were sold off to private developers some time ago. The platforms have waiting shelters, bench seating, and timetable posters, but little else in the way of facilities. It is run and managed, along with the trains that pass through, by Abellio Greater Anglia. There is one hourly direct service to Ipswich in 13 minutes and Felixstowe in 15 minutes.

When you step off at Derby Road, you’ll be a few minutes’ walk from Ipswich Transport Museum which houses almost 100 historic vehicles from old trams to local buses.
