Datchet railway station lies just south of Slough and serves the little community of Datchet in Berkshire along the line between London Waterloo and Windsor and Eton Riverside. It was opened in the mid-19th century and originally had goods facilities though these were closed in the ‘60s. Out of the original structures, the only one left is the stationmaster’s house – the others were either demolished or lost in a fire during the ‘80s. Today, the station and the trains that pass through are managed by South Western Railway. There are two platforms connected with a footbridge, shelters on both sides of the tracks, electronic displays, and help points. There is also a ticket office that is opened each day for limited daytime hours. There are two direct trains an hour to London Waterloo at 53 minutes and Windsor & Eton Riverside in 6 minutes.
