Trains to Cupar

Cupar railway station lies just 15 miles or so south of Dundee in Fife and serves the little community of Cupar and the surrounding villages. It was opened in the mid-19^th century as part of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway which linked the city with Dundee. In 1899, the station was the scene of an accident that saw a passenger train collide with a live goods train. Today, the old stone station buildings still exist along the two platforms making it one of the prettiest in Fife. Shade or cover from the rain is provided by the original overhanding roof supported by metal columns that run along the edge of the platform. Today, the station and the trains that pass through, are operated by Abellio ScotRail, though there are some services provided by CrossCountry. Throughout weekday peak times, there is an hourly direct service to Dundee in 23 minutes and to Edinburgh in 1 hour 9 minutes.

Cupar is a handsome town with smart Georgian and Victorian properties lining its high street and a busy weekend market. There are several parks in town, the biggest being Duffus Park where you can catch one of the local football or rugby matches.
