Cradley Heath railway station lies just a few miles south of Dudley and serves the little community of Cradley Heath in the West Midlands. It’s two platforms straddle the Worcester to Kidderminster Line and is managed along with the trains by West Midlands Trains, though some services are provided by Chiltern Railways. It opened in the mid-19th century as a stop along the line from Stourbridge Junction to Old Hill, though it changed several times over the years. Today, none of the old station buildings still survive after it was completely reconstructed during the ‘80s. The adjoining Cradley Heath bus station has created a convenient interchange and passengers can purchase Plusbus tickets to use both modes of transport. It’s a busy little station with six departures an hour leaving for Birmingham Snow Hill in 21 minutes and Stourbridge in 5 minutes throughout peak hours.
When you arrive in Cradley Heath, there’s plenty of things to do from the Midland Raceway to the Saltwells Local Nature Reserve. If you want a little retail therapy, you shouldn’t miss a visit to the nearby Merry Hill Shopping Centre where you can pick up a bargain in the hundreds of stores.
