Cooksbridge railway station the tiny community of Cooksbridge and the surrounding villages. It’s served by the East Coastway Line which is managed along with the trains by Southern. It was opened in the mid-19th century as Cook’s Bridge with just a couple of trains passing through each day. Much of the original station as still visible today including the overhanding wooden shelter. Later a footbridge was constructed to link both the two platforms. There are several other facilities like ticket vending machines on both platforms, bench seating and timetable displays. The station still has few services with no weekend trains. During the week, there are eleven direct trains to Eastbourne in 27 minutes and twelve direct trains to London Victoria 1 hour 9 minutes each day.
Cooksbridge sits on the edge of the mighty 1,627-square-kilometre South Downs National Park, an area of chalk hills and woodland. Just remember to bring your camera and walking boots, you’re going to need them.
