Collington railway station serves the community of Collington, a suburb of Bexhill along the southern coast of the UK in East Sussex. It’s two platforms are served and maintained by Southern whose trains travel along the East Coastway Line. It’s had several name changes over the last century. It originally opened as Collington Wood Halt in the early 20th century, though it closed a year later. Two decades on it reopened as West Bexhill Halt, then changed to Collington Halt before finally dropping Halt in the late ‘60s. It’s an unstaffed station, though there are facilities for purchasing tickets, information displays, timetable announcements and a footbridge which connects the station’s two platforms. There are two direct trains an hour throughout the day to Hastings in just 12 minutes, an hourly direct train to Brighton in 1 hour 9 minutes, and an hourly direct departure to London Victoria in the heart of the capital in 1 hour 48 minutes.
When you step off the train in Collington, you’ll be just a stone’s throw away from the seafront with its pretty parade and a beach-hut lined swath of sand. If you're not a beach dweller, maybe the iconic '30s De La Warr Pavilion, the Bexhill Museum or the large Egerton Park is more to your taste.
