Close to 3 miles south of Cardiff Central, Cogan Railway Station serves the Cogan suburb of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. The station and all passenger trains serving it are operated by Arriva Trains Wales as part of the Valley Lines network. Trains from Cogan depart every fifteen minutes northbound to Cardiff Central and beyond; southbound, trains depart three times an hour to Barry Island. An additional hourly southbound service continues to Bridgend via Rhoose. On evenings and Sundays, service to Cardiff Central is half-hourly; evening service to Barry Island and Bridgend is hourly, while Sunday services are half-hourly to Barry Island and two-hourly to Bridgend.

The station’s distinctive cast-iron footbridge is Grade II listed. The original station buildings still stand but are in private use as businesses. Cogan has both bicycle storage and a free carpark. Tickets for onward travel may be purchased from the self-service ticket machines present at the station. Departure screens, help points, and automated announcements maintain train running information throughout the station. Platform 1 for southbound service has level access; platform 2 for northbound service is accessed only via stairs and footbridge or very steep ramp with steps.
