Trains to Chorleywood

Chorleywood train station is nestled in Hertfordshire around 20 miles outside of London. Though it isn’t part of the London Metropolitan area, the station is still part of Travelcard Zone 7. The station was built in the late 19th-century and named Chorley Wood. It went through several renames but was reverted to its original in 1965. Steam trains used to ply the lines passing Chorleywood en route to London and Aylesbury, but were withdrawn in 1961 after electric locomotives were brought into use. The station’s 2 platforms are shared between the London Underground and National Rail. The twice hourly direct train to London Marylebone is operated by Chiltern Railways and takes just 34 minutes via Harrow on the Hill.

When you step off in Chorleywood, you’ll be just a few minutes’ walk from Chorleywood War Memorial Hall and Chorleywood Common whose challenging 9-hole golf course is a great way to practise your swing and while away a sunny afternoon. Alternatively, you could bring your walking boots for a hike along the winding trails in the nearby wooded Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
