Trains to Chilham

Chilham train station was opened in the mid-19th century by the then South Eastern Railway and has long served the small Kent communities of Bagham, Shottenden and the interestingly named Old Wives Lees with transport into the larger towns and cities. Fast forward to today, and the station and the trains that pass by are run and maintained by Southeastern. It’s a commuter town with regular direct train services from its 2 platforms to nearby Canterbury in 10 minutes departing twice every hour throughout the day and Ashford in just 15 minutes. Getting in London for the day is a breeze with direct train service departing every hour throughout the day and taking just 1 hour 53 minutes to central London Victoria.  

When you step off in Chilham, you’ll find yourself on the edge of the rolling hills and valleys of the Kent Downs, an ideal place for hiking and horse riding. Before you head out into the national park, don’t miss a visit to one of the open days at the stately early 17th-century Chilham Castle and its grounds, cast your line in at the local carp fishery or have a drop of Kentish cider at the Badgers Hill Farm & Cidery.
