Catford railway station is the smaller of two stations serving the London suburb of Catford - the other being Catford Bridge - in London Travelcard Zone 3. The station is a popular commuter hub, running regular services to West Hampstead, Blackfriars, St Pancras International and Sevenoaks.
The introduction of the railway to Catford kick-started a long period of industrialisation for the area, encouraging the building of houses for middle-class workers needing easy access to central London. In the modern day, the area is still very popular with commuters, and if planned works to extend the Bakerloo line to the station in 2020 go ahead, the area around the station could see yet more growth.
The town itself is also set for a major regeneration, with plans in place to revitalise the main high street, improve the town market, and host regular social events throughout the borough. For now, Catford Broadway and Catford Market make up the town's cultural centre, offering a wide array of pubs, shops and restaurants.
