Trains to Canonbury

Canonbury train station is located in Travelcard Zone 2, in the London Borough of Islington, serving the Canonbury and Highbury districts with trains on the London Overground’s North London Line and East London Line. Around 12 trains in each direction depart from Canonbury train station every hour. Popular destinations for passengers include Stratford, Richmond and Crystal Palace, with fastest direct journey times of 13 minutes, 48 minutes and 41 minutes respectively.

When Canonbury station first opened in 1858 it was called Newington Road & Balls Pond. It was moved slightly to the west in 1870 and renamed Canonbury at the same time. It was updated in 2007, and again in 2010, with the addition of two extra platforms and refurbishment of the ticket office. Today, the station has four platforms linked by a footbridge over the lines which can be accessed by steps or a lift. There are two ticket machines outside the station, and a staffed ticket office and concourse. A small kiosk serves refreshments on platforms two and three.
