Camden Road station was originally opened in 1850 and renamed Camden Town shortly before its closure in 1870. The station which stands today is a little to the west of the original site. This station opened as Camden Town, a name which it shared with a London Underground station from 1907 to 1950. It was later renamed Camden Road to avoid confusion. Camden Town underground station still sits a short distance away and several London Bus services stop nearby. There are also plans to convert the disused railways line from Camden Road to Kings Cross to a public park and footpath connecting the two stations.
