Trains to Buxted

Busted train station serves the East Sussex village of Buxted with trains travelling on the Uckfield branch of the Oxted Line. It was opened in 1868 but goods services were withdrawn in 1962. The station house was destroyed and the second line removed in the 1980s; the second platform still stands but is now disused and overgrown. Buxted itself is known for its history of iron making and, according to local legend, its ghost. The town is home to Nan Tuck's Lane, named for Nan Tuck, a poisoner who ran into the nearby woods to evade capture and was never seen again.  

Today, one platform remains in use at Buxted train station, with services operated by Southern departing once an hour in each direction. There is step-free access from the car park and nearby High Street, and a staffed ticket office with toilets and a vending machine providing hot drinks. From Buxted train station, the fastest journey time to Uckfield is 5 minutes, and Oxted is a journey of 37 minutes. Direct trains to London Bridge take 1 hour and 14 minutes.
