Burnley Manchester Road train station opened in 1866 as a replacement for the existing station at Thorneybank. It has two platforms, each accessed by a ramp from Manchester Road, and a staffed ticket office with toilets on platform two. The current platforms replaced the originals, which were demolished after the station closed in 1973. The station which stands today reopened in 1986.
