Bruton train station is situated in the small Somerset town of Bruton. The station is on the Bristol to Weymouth line and is managed by Great Western Railway, which also operates some of the train services. Bruton train station opened in 1856 and several station buildings, a footbridge and signal box were built here. A footbridge still connects the platforms today but the goods yard and original buildings have been removed. An irregular service runs from Bruton, with eight trains in each direction on weekdays and five each way on Sundays. The fastest journey times for direct trains from Bruton to Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads are 51 minutes, and 1 hour 6 minutes. There is also a daily direct service to London Waterloo, which take 1 hour and 38 minutes.

Bruton Railway Cutting has an interesting geological history and has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest with links to the Middle Jurassic period. Another such site is found nearby, at the Godminster Lane Quarry and Railway Cutting, and a small museum in the town houses a display of items dating from this period up to the present day.
