Bromsgrove train station is at the foot of the two-mile Lickey Line, between Birmingham and Worcester in the small town of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. It is one of only four stations in the UK which sees annual usage of over half a million journeys despite offering just an hourly service.
Bromsgrove station was originally opened in 1840, before being rebuilt as a single-platform station in 1969; a second platform was finally added on the down side of the station in May 1990. Bromsgrove is set to undergo another major redevelopment, with plans for an all-new station initially planned to be completed by 2009. However, subsequent funding and planning issues caused severe delays and the new station is not now expected to be finished until spring 2016. The town is home to the internationally renowned Bromsgrove Festival of Classical Music, and the town centre boasts a large statue of famed composer Edward Elgar.
