Trains to Brentwood

Brentwood made its name as a popular resting spot for pilgrims travelling to Canterbury to pay their respects to medieval Archbishop Thomas Becket. The remains of a chapel dedicated to the 12th-century saint can be found in the town centre, a fifteen-minute walk from the station. Today, this picturesque town welcomes devotees of a different kind of church - reality-TV phenomenon The Only Way Is Essex, which is filmed on location amongst the bustling streets and light green spaces of this visually arresting town. The endearing red-brick structure of the 1840 station is itself equally as welcoming and forms part of the popular Liverpool-Street-to-Shenfield commuter line. The station underwent refurbishment in 2010, with the entrance and ticket hall expanded, and further enhancements are due in 2018 with the arrival of the high-speed Crossrail link. The town's main shopping hub of Crown Street is a short walk from the station but visitors to family-favourite Old MacDonald's Farm will need to take a bus.
