Trains to Brandon

Brandon train station serves the small town of Brandon, located close to the Suffolk and Norfolk border. Trains from Brandon train station travel directly to Cambridge, with a journey time of 38 minutes, and Norwich, a journey which takes 45 minutes. Abellio Greater Anglia manages the station and most of the services which stop here.  

The name of the town of Brandon dates from the 11th century, although the area was known for its flint as far back as prehistoric times. The Neolithic flint mine known as Grime’s Graves, located 3.5 miles from Brandon train station, is a popular local tourist attraction which explains the history of flint mining in the area as far back as 5,000 years ago. More recently, the station gained fame as a location in the Dad’s Army episode “The Big Parade”.  

There are two platforms at Brandon station, accessible from the street on one side and the car park on the other. A footbridge over the line connects them. There are no ticketing facilities: journeys from this station will need to be booked in advance or paid for on the train. Regular hourly trains depart from Brandon train station in each direction.
