Trains to Blackrod

Blackrod train station serves the village of Blackrod, several miles northwest of Bolton Station and only a mile from Horwich town centre. The station and all trains serving it are managed and operated by Northern. Trains from Blackrod depart hourly, southbound to Manchester Victoria and northbound to Preston and Blackpool North. At peak times, additional trains from Manchester Airport or Hazel Grove to Blackpool North also serve the station.

The station has been recently refurbished and, while unstaffed, features a number of improvements for passenger use. Bicycle stands, self-service ticket machines, customer help points, payphones, waiting shelters, and seating are available for use throughout the station. The footbridge was demolished in 2012 and replaced with access ramps, making the entire station suitable for step-free access. There's a carpark accessible via ramp, located near platform 1. A lost property facility is located at the station.
