Trains to Birkenhead Park

Named for one of the UK’s first Victorian municipal parks, Birkenhead Park Railway Station serves Birkenhead with regular Merseyrail services along the Wirral Line. Trains from Birkenhead Park depart on a regular, fifteen-minute schedule to New Brighton and West Kirby and every five to ten minutes via Hamilton Square and the Mersey Railway Tunnel to Liverpool. At all other times, these trains run on a half-hourly and fifteen-minute schedule respectively.

The original Birkenhead Park Station was destroyed by two German land mines during the Second World War; the modern facility has been upgraded to Merseyrail standards and contains all the essential facilities befitting it. The station is fully staffed during opening hours and is protected by platform CCTV. A waiting shelter is available on the island platform, as is a payphone, booking office, departure and arrival screens, and step-free access via ramp. As part of Merseyrail’s Go Cycle scheme, the station has secure storage facilities for up to 32 bikes.
