Trains to Birkenhead North

A junction station at the meeting of the New Brighton and West Kirby branches of the Wirral Line, Birkenhead North train station serves the surrounding area of Birkenhead and acts as a funnel for Birkenhead North Traction Maintenance Depot, Merseyrail’s primary train depot. The station has three platforms, all of which typically see trains from Birkenhead North departing every 15 minutes throughout the week to New Brighton and West Kirby. Additionally, services via Birkenhead Hamilton Square to Liverpool operate every 5 to 10 minutes. During off-peak hours and Sundays, these services become half-hourly and every 15 minutes respectively.

In addition to the standard Merseyrail station amenities, Birkenhead North has a Park and Ride facility attached directly to the platform with charging posts for electric vehicles. The station is staffed during all opening hours and has a booking hall, seating, live departures and arrival screens, payphones, secure cycle storage and step-free access throughout the platforms.
