Trains to Birkenhead Central

Tucked inside a deep cutting on the south side of the town centre, Birkenhead Railway Station serves the town of Birkenhead via the Wirral Line. Located along the Chester and Ellesmere Port branch of the line, both the station and all trains calling there are managed and operated by Merseyrail. Trains from Birkenhead Central depart every 15 minutes between Chester and Liverpool during the week; in the evenings, as well as on Sundays, service drops to become half-hourly. An additional train from Birkenhead Central to Liverpool and Ellesmere Port runs every half-hour during the day all week.

As with all Merseyrail stations, Birkenhead Central is fully staffed during all opening hours and monitored via CCTV across the platforms. Station facilities include the booking office, departure and arrival screens, cycle storage, vending and refreshment facilities, and toilets. Step-free access is available throughout the station via ramp and a set of lifts.
