Birkbeck Station is located on Elmer’s End Road in Birkbeck, London (London Zone 4). The station is served by Southern Railway and by Tramlink route two which runs from Centrale in Croydon to Beckenham tram station in Bromley. It is located adjacent to the Graces Bar and Grill and a five-minute walk away from South Norwood County Park. The station opened in 1858 as a double track branch of the West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway but closed its doors in 1915- up until 1929 where it reopened as part of the Southern Railway electrification scheme.
Birkbeck Station is located a two-minute walk away from two bus stops which can be found on Elmer’s End Road. Entrance to the station is at street level and platforms are reached by a flight of stairs. This is a one-platform station with self-service ticket machines which can also be used to top up Oyster Cards. This station also features smartcard validators however Smartcards cannot be purchased from this station.
