Trains to Bargoed

Bargoed train station serves the town of Bargoed in Caerphilly, South Wales. Located on the Valley Lines network’s Rhymney branch, the station has recently been upgraded with a second platform and sees regularly commuter trains throughout the week. Monday through Saturday trains from Bargoed depart southward for Cardiff Central and Penarth every fifteen minutes, with serving becoming hourly in the evenings. On Sundays, trains run every two hours and serve Barry Island instead of Penarth. Northbound trains from Bargoed continue to Rhymney during the week. As with the soundbound trains, Sunday services northbound operate every two hours.

Although somewhat quiet, the station has seen increases in passenger use over the past few years. Operated by Arriva Trains Wales, the station has a staffed ticket office open from start of service throughout the week until 11 AM, which expands from 08:00-16:00 on Saturdays. No self-service machines or smartcard validators. Step-free access is available throughout the station, and passengers may use the shelters located on each platform.
