Built in 1863, Arundel station is a short walk from the centre of this historic market town in West Sussex. It regularly serves the stations of London Bridge, London Victoria and Gatwick Airport, with services taking approximately 90 minutes and 60 minutes respectively – additional services run from the station to Southampton Central and Bognor Regis.
Lying on the fringe of the stunning South Downs, the town of Arundel is steeped in history, with its skyline dominated by the majestic Arundel Castle and Arundel Cathedral. While the castle was founded in 1067, the cathedral looks much older than it is – built in the 19th century, it was given a medieval Gothic style to complement the castle. As well as its historic sights, Arundel attracts visitors for its pleasant riverside town centre, full of cafes, traditional pubs and independent shops, and its extensive wetland centre, a wildlife haven about 1.5 miles north of the station.
The station is made up of two platforms, accessible from two entrances on Station Approach and The Causeway. The main station building houses both a manned ticketing counter and automated ticket machine. Platform 1 contains a small waiting room, bench seating, a bike rack and toilet facilities. A raised walkway leads from Platform 1, across to Platform 2, where additional bench seating can be found.
