Achnashellach train station is a request stop serving the Achnashellach area with connections to Dingwall and Strathcarron. Travellers to the station will need to inform the conductor that they need to stop there and oncoming passengers can hail the train from the platform with an outstretched arm.

Originally opened by the Dingwall and Skye Railway, the line has been running through Achnashellach since 1870. An 11 minute journey from Strathcarron, Achnashellach station is now used mainly by walkers and climbers who wish to access Achnashellach Forest or the surrounding mountains.

Walks to the Munros, Sgorr Ruadh and Beinn Liath Mhor, and the smaller Fuar Tholl (also called 'Wellington's Nose') all begin at this station. A slightly less arduous circular route takes in the surrounding pines forests and the ‘dark waterfall’ Easan Dorcha. Achnashellach train station has one platform with a sheltered seating area and bicycle storage. Four trains pass the platform from each direction on weekdays and Saturdays, and one on Sundays all year round (two in the summer months).  There is parking opposite the station, just off the nearby A890. Achnashellach is also served by a limited local bus service.
