Achnashellach train station is a request stop serving the Achnashellach area with connections to Dingwall and Strathcarron. Travellers to the station will need to inform the conductor that they need to stop there and oncoming passengers can hail the train from the platform with an outstretched arm.

Walks to the Munros, Sgorr Ruadh and Beinn Liath Mhor, and the smaller Fuar Tholl (also called 'Wellington's Nose') all begin at this station. A slightly less arduous circular route takes in the surrounding pines forests and the ‘dark waterfall’ Easan Dorcha. Achnashellach train station has one platform with a sheltered seating area and bicycle storage. Four trains pass the platform from each direction on weekdays and Saturdays, and one on Sundays all year round (two in the summer months).
