Aber train station is part of the Valley Lines Network and one of three stations serving the South Wales town of Caerphilly with connection to Rhymney, Bargoed and Penarth (via Cardiff Central). Journey times to Cardiff and Penarth from Aber are 22 minutes and 39 minutes respectively.
Aber train station was opened in 1908 and was originally known as Beddau Halt, before being renamed Aber Halt in 1968 and shortened to Aber in 1969. There were two junctions near the station until the 1980s, allowing the frequent freight and coal trains to avoid the busier passenger stations on their journey to Cardiff docks.
The two platforms at Aber station both have a small sheltered waiting area and seats. Tickets can be purchased or collected from the ticket window during opening hours. Trains to Aber arrive four times an hour from each direction on weekdays, with hourly trains in the evenings and two-hourly arrivals on Sundays.
