The Fairbourne Steam Railway is connected to Fairborne railway station, which is served by Transport for Wales trains from Machynlleth and Pwllheli. From Machynlleth, the journey to Fairbourne takes just under an hour and there are five daily services on weekdays. From Pwllheli, the journey takes an hour and a half and there are also five daily weekday services.                          

The Fairbourne Railway is a wonderful slice of Cumbrian transport history. The 2-mile narrow-gauge railway runs along the stunning Cumbrian coastline from Fairborne to Barmouth, at the mouth of the River Mawddach. At Barmouth, you can stop and enjoy a drink at the Harbour View Café and catch a ferry across the estuary to the town. There, you’ll find the stunning Abermaw beach, delightful walking trails and quaint pubs to enjoy a well-earned drink.
