Line closure between Guildford and Petersfield, Saturday 12 - Sunday 20 February 2022
The Portsmouth Direct Upgrade gets underway with a nine-day closure between Guildford and Petersfield in February 2022.
Engineers will begin preparations for a new signaling system between Farncombe and Petersfield and upgrades for 12 level crossings, while also carrying out vital maintenance.
Travel Information
On Saturday 12 February, then between Monday 14 and Friday 19 February, South Western Railway (SWR) services will start and terminate at Guildford. Buses will replace trains between Guildford and Petersfield. A rail shuttle service will operate between Petersfield and Portsmouth Harbour.
On Sunday 13 February, buses will replace trains between Guildford and Havant.
On Sunday 20 February, Great Western Railway (GWR) services between Gatwick Airport and Redhill will terminate at Guildford. Buses will replace trains between Guildford and Shalford.
Future closures
As part of the Portsmouth Direct Upgrade programme there will be a number of weekday line closures through to late 2024.
The next closure is expected to take place between Monday 24 and Sunday 30 October 2022 from Haslemere to Havant. This is subject to confirmation.
